Christmas (Catholic Style)

"The great majority of people will go on observing forms that cannot be explained; they will keep Christmas Day with Christmas gifts and Christmas benedictions; they will continue to do it; and some day suddenly wake up and discover why." - GK Chesterton

"Thank Heaven the holidays are over!" Not so fast! We may be done with "holiday," but Christmas is still very much with us, and shall be for some weeks. Come to Theology on Tap - Pasadena and find out from Charles A. Coulombe about the REAL Christmas - accept no substitutes!
________
While the world is busy selling things to shoppers throughout November and December, the Church offers us joyful prayer and penance in order to prepare for the arrival of the newborn King. The real business of celebrating in Catholic style does not begin until Christmas Eve - and then goes on intensely until the Epiphany, and gradually tapering off until Candlemas on February 2.

Learn concrete tips on how you can get the most out of it with Catholic customs and worship. You owe it to yourself to really enjoy Christmas as it was meant to be enjoyed!

January 8, 8PM, at Griffins of Kinsale.

"Wherever the Catholic sun doth shine,
There’s always laughter and good red wine.
At least I’ve always found it so.
Benedicamus Domino!"
- Hillaire Belloc

True Patriotism with Charles A. Coulombe

With all the unrest and division in the country before and after last November's election, so many terms are bing thrown around - "alt.right" "anti-Fascist," "White Supremacist," "Nationalist," and many more. What do these mean? And what do Right and Left, Liberal and Conservative, Republican Democrat mean now, if anything? What is a believing Catholic to make of it all, and how does one love his country in today's climate?

Come and find out!

Theology on Tap

Join Charles A. Coulombe with special guest, Dr. Robert Llizo, for July's Theology on Tap - Pasadena! These two men will have a discussion about the issues relating to the topic of Catholic and Orthodox reunion.

Dr. Robert Llizo is a "convert" to Catholicism from Orthodoxy, but did not reject Orthodoxy; rather he embraced being in full communion with the Bishop of Rome (the Pope). From this perspective, Dr. Llizo will share the similarities and differences between Orthodoxy and Catholicism, while Charles illuminates the history of the divide with his characteristic wit and humor. Your questions and comments will form an important part of the larger conversation!

Our Lady's Mission For Life

On March 26, at 3PM Our Lady’s Mission for Life is coming to the Pasadena Planned Parenthood abortion mill. Our Lady's Mission for Life is a statewide schedule of visitations by the Missionary Image of Our Lady of Guadalupe during the upcoming months of March and April. As you may know, the Missionary Image is a full-size photographic reproduction of the miraculous tilma which hangs in Mexico City. The Image was commissioned by the Bishops of Mexico, blessed, and sent to the United States with the specific mission of bringing an end to abortion, as well as drawing souls to Her Divine Son. Our Lady of Guadalupe is uniquely suited for such a mission as she has been adopted by many pro-life groups as their patroness under her title of Protectress of the Unborn.

Please consider attending on March 26 at 3PM and joining in prayer, in union with Our Lady of Guadalupe, for the end of abortion. Please contact Liz Boydston for more details or to RSVP: elizabeth_boydston@icloud.com

Theology on Tap

Ever wonder if exorcism is real, or if it's still practiced in the Catholic Church? The answer to both questions is YES! In fact, recent popes have recognized this need, and have encouraged a renewed emphasis on this ancient Catholic ministry. Come to Theology on Tap to hear Charles A. Coulombe tell us all about this amazing ministry. Charles will be giving an hour-long presentation on the topic that will discuss some of the theology surrounding exorcism, and why it is still very much needed in our church. Bring your questions to this engaging and informative talk!
